About Jordan Acker
Jordan Acker was elected at age 33 to the University of Michigan Board of Regents in 2018 and is the youngest currently serving member of the Board.
Acker is also a partner at the law firm of Goodman Acker, a multi-specialty boutique firm, in Southfield, Michigan.
Acker advised Speaker Joe Tate (D-Detroit) on the bill that became Michigan’s NIL law and continues to be an outspoken leader statewide and nationally for continuing reform of
college athletics.
Acker was the first trustee of a major university to speak out in favor of the NCAA granting NIL rights to student athletes. He lectures on this topic and other governance and athletics related classes, including the first NIL class at U-M in Spring 2023.
Prior to private practice, Mr. Acker served President Obama in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel and at the Department of Homeland Security as an attorney-advisor to Secretary Napolitano and Deputy
Secretary Lute.
He is a regular commentator on athletics and academics, University governance, and other topics, and has been featured in Sports Illustrated, Sportico, On3, ESPN, The Ann Arbor News, Front Office Sports, as well as radio in places like Detroit, Ann Arbor, Des Moines, and Portland, Oregon.
